About WimOps

Hi, I’m Wim, I live in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, UK and I’ve been doing DevOps long before it was even called DevOps — I’ve got over 25 years of experience in software development of which the last 15 have been heavily focused around automation, CI/CD, and reliable, agile and efficient software delivery.

Over the years, I’ve worked for big clients like Shell, NHS, Mercedes-Benz, the World Health Organisation, but also plenty of medium and smaller companies across all different industries and domains.

I specialise in streamlining Azure DevOps CI/CD workflows by automating and templating processes to help teams build, deploy, and scale more efficiently. From tools like CruiseControl, Team Foundation Server, and TeamCity to modern platforms like Octopus Deploy and Azure DevOps, I’ve seen, configured, customised — and optimised — a LOT.

My passion is removing bottlenecks, reducing manual work, and enabling teams to deliver faster and with more confidence. Whether it’s designing CI/CD pipelines, creating, modifying or applying reusable templates, or automating cloud infrastructure using Infra-as-Code like Bicep, I’m all about practical DevOps solutions that make a real impact.

That’s why I started WimOps. My own professional blog and service to help organisations make sense of proper parameterised and templated multi-environment infrastructure and web deployments (using mainly Azure DevOps and YAML build/deploy pipelines) in the age of Cursor and Copilot!

Sometimes that might involve some custom scripts, using Powershell, Python or Bash, or sometimes all it needs, is tweaking a variable in an ever-growing suite of templates.
